tissue heading into the crux on 1070 (v8)

bouldering in kentucky has long been a joke of sorts; something you do when you can’t find a belayer for the red or can’t afford the gas for a trip to chattanooga.  i mean, there are certainly some good solid problems in the bluegrass state and even a few decent areas, but – for the most part – the vast majority of our ‘grounded’ sandstone boulders are sand piles.

until now.

43 problems in 4 days (with potential for 100+).  fun warmups.  hard projects.  big highballs.  great rock.

we win.  for more pictures head to my new picture site (don’t want this blog to get bogged down with too much climbing).

i’d have answered your calls if i wasn’t lumberjacking my way through the ice storm’s remains as a training tool for hueco. chainsaws are lame, but i’m pooped. good rock, good times, good night.

David

hey my name is david and the area looks sick! im a huge fan off bouldering now so much sport climbing and i have been excited by new areas in development. i live in lexington and as you know about 45 minutes away from the gorge, i have hiked around and found some good areas even got ahold of chris redmonds book on rrg bouldering, nothing but bull dog and gobstopper got me really psyched expecpt for some potential re-cleaning at emerald city, and now your area. i guess i was really wondering if you are keeping the area closed until fa’s are drained or keeping the area cool and open for all to enjoy and help out. like i said before i live in lexington and work at the rockwall and would be really excited to grab up my wire brush and help clean build trails and just climb at this jackpot of kentucky bouldering

it will take a decade to drain fa’s. so no worries there. keeping things ‘open’ for all isn’t necessarily conducive to those places existing for the ‘enjoyment’ of all. i’m slowly taking people out so as to make sure we don’t lose spots before we get them. but email me and we can talk more about cleaning, climbing, and developing stuff. tbwilsonky at gmail dot com
